BERTUAHPOS.COM, PEKANBARU – The Network of Forest Rescue of Riau (Jikalahari) urged Joko Widodo, the President of the Republic of Indonesia to realize the commitment to review the licensing of companies operating on peat and natural forests of Riau.
These actions in accordance with Jokowi’s statement during a visit Tohor River, Meranti Islands November 27, 2014, which said that he would like to review the license of the companies are converting the peat into monoculture crops.
” The Company with monoculture crops such as HTI and palm plantations are the main contributors in natural forest destruction and peat in Riau province, and even also suspected as monopolistic practices,” said Muslim Rashid, Coordinator Jikalahari, Friday (02/01/2015).
In The beginning of 2015, Jikalahari release back the endnotes of 2014 entitled “President Joko Widodo should be Review the Corporate License of Natural Forest And Peat of Riauâ€. The endnote of Jikalahari contains the results of advocacy and development of forests’s conditions in Riau throughout the year.
“We do this to make a fundamental improvement from the government to save the forests of Riau. Land and forest fire and illegal logging, including the destruction of peat is often done by the companyof forest industry and plantation.” he said. (Syawal)
